Kantha Quilts

Kantha is still the most popular form of embroidery practiced by rural women in India. Traditionally it was used to sew old saris together to make simple quilts and bedspreads. Contemporary Kantha embroidery is commonly used in bedding and other furnishing fabrics, mostly using cotton and silk. In the best examples, the entire cloth is covered with running stitches, giving the cloth a slight wrinkled, wavy effect. This gives the bedspread its unique texture and distinctive appearance.

Our quilts are made from 100% Organic cotton. Each one of these beautiful quilts is hand stitched by Artisans in India and many are women from rural villages working alongside their families and trying to create a future for themselves and their children. We import these quilts to bring you the best example of traditional Indian craftsmanship and by doing so are helping these women who are paid fairly for their craft to sustain their financial independence.
